! was another one who quit before the start  because of the way the  
sky looked and don't feel particularly good about it. I had no idea of  
the extent of the problems that developed and made it back to Hemlock  
Point in time to see Rodger sail across the lake to Cotton Point, take  
the jib down and head back under the main . He seemed to be going very  
fast but totally in control and I wondered why he did that. Now I know.

I guess I should have told  the committee boat I was leaving but I  
couldn't find it.

Hind sight is always 20 20 and obviously there were arguable reasons  
to not race and now that I hear what happened, I'd do what I did  
again. But  I'm sorry to miss the challenge of getting through this  
one, which as everyone says will be much discussed and re done for a  
long time.
