Corinthian Racing
In 2008 there will be a total of six races organized by the Corinthians. As always the Lake George Corinthian Yacht Club (LGCYC) sailing events will begin with the Ticonderoga race. This year will be the 35th annual race, and will again be a fund-raising event for the Y-Knot Sailing program at YMCA Camp Chingachgook.
The format and scoring for the Sunday racing events will be changed this year. Each race will be run as a single event, and all events will be scored using PHRF Time on Time. We will award prizes for first, second and third place finishes in each race. Race events will be held at two week intervals, any race cancellations due to poor weather conditions will be rescheduled.
Please see the Events Calendar for dates. In addition to the Ticonderoga Race, the Corinthians will run the PHRF Open (yes, just what it sounds like); the Around the Islands Regatta (a white-sails-only race around the islands at the mouth of the Narrows); the Women Skipper's Race (you must have a woman on the helm, but crew can belong to any of the other three genders); the Single-Handed Race (one sailor, one boat); and the Sabbath Day Point Race (a new distance race that we hope will become as much a staple of the sailing scene on Lake George as the Ti Race).
Except for the Ti Race, all races are free and open to all sailboats on Lake George!
